Patricia Velásquez
Creativity transcends the boundaries of
film, canvas, photographs and other media. It could also serve as an
inspiration for philanthropy, charity, and charity and activism. Patricia
Velasquez, an award-winning model, actress, and historian as well as a committed
philanthropist and activist, and an adoring mother, brings an ever-increasing
creative flair to all she does, whether it's starring in blockbusters like The
Curse of La Llorona, or launching Wayuu Taya Foundation, and participating as a
member of the UNESCO Board. She believes in intuition and a pioneer in her own
direction. "I view my career like an escalator," she said. "I
completed every step. It was amazing to accomplish that, as there was a
long-term vigor. I just laid my head down and took one step at a time. And
then, it was over. The analogy is directly related to the experience of
forming. After a couple of years, she moved to Venezuela. She was born in
Venezuela and grew up in France and Mexico. Her parents, who were employed as
educators in South America, moved her family into a cramped home without water
and elevators. Patricia often carried large buckets of water for 15 steps to
supply water. Between her dance and engineering training, she was determined to
assist the family by any means she could. In the process of being scouted to
model in Milan, the multi talented model's rise to the heights of fashion
rested on a promise made to the people she loved. She recounts, "When they
asked me about going to Italy I replied"If you could send thirty bucks a
month back home to Venezuela and it's worth it, since that will pay for the
entire building's water bills'." Patricia's triumph was a turning point in
fashion, as she attracted industry attention to South America for the first
time. Patricia was able to make headlines when she became "the first model
Karl Lagerfeld ever photographed" and going on to walk in shows, be a part
of editorial spreads and front ads for Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi,
Chloe, Cover Girl, and Victoria's Secret just to mention a few. Her fame spread
across the globe. she was featured on Oprah and Ford Models' "Supermodel
of the World" contest as well. Not to mention, she graced the covers of
Vogue, Bazaar, Marie Claire and many others.
